Message From Sheriff

Sheriff Darin Layman

Darin J. Layman

To the Citizens of Crawford County,

As the elected Sheriff of Crawford County Missouri, it is my sworn duty to protect and defend the Constitutions of the United States of America, and the State of Missouri against all enemies both foreign and domestic. This means I not only have the duty to protect my constituents from incidents of crime, but I also have a duty and responsibility to protect and preserve the individual rights and liberties afforded and guaranteed to every citizen by our constitutions. It is my duty, as well as responsibility, to uphold the Constitution and protect those people who placed their trust in me to do what is right. This is a duty I fully understand, appreciate, and will carry out with great vigor and conviction.

As your Sheriff, my top priorities include working with the County Commissioners to stay within budget meanwhile building a stronger and more efficient department. My intention is to build a solid relationship between the Sheriff's Office and the people whom we have sworn to serve and protect. This is made possible through the renewed relations between our agency and all of the law enforcement agencies who operate within the borders of Crawford County. Our commitment and cooperation with City, State and Federal law enforcement agencies have resulted in the bonding together of all those agencies to create one large entity that will not only fight crime, it will also deter it.

I have a lot vested in the community and I want to do everything possible to see that Crawford County continues to be a safe place not only to raise my children but also a safe place for the children and grandchildren of all Crawford County citizens. My office will always be committed to the protection the citizens and visitors to this great county.

I am honored to be your Sheriff and look forward to the opportunity to continue to make a difference for the people residing in Crawford County, Missouri.
